As the dust settles from a wild, crazy and bass fueled weekend in Atlantic City. An underlying and ugly issue was brought to the forefront. It’s no surprise that concert goers indulge in drug use at shows. Drug use in the live music scene has been around for awhile so while unfortunate, sadly it’s nothing new. Now I’m not going tell you how to treat your body, only you can do that. But when I notice multiple people being carried out on stretchers and others having seizures, there’s a problem. Almost every show I’ve been to, I’ve seen someone being escorted out or receiving some sort of medical attention. It pains me to see something so depressing having such a strong correlation with something so beautiful. I advocate going to these shows sober as it really helps you live in the moment even more. However if you are going to use drugs at these shows. Please research the substance you are using and know all of the possible side effects along with the potentially fatal combination of substances. As someone with peers who have suffered and succumb to drug use. Please think twice before using drugs. With all that said and festival season kicking into full force. Be smart and think ahead of the potential consequences before partaking and remember that music is the drug.
