Tackle

Clear skies and tight lines, two of the best things to an angler's ears. Fishing is probably my favorite past time and I've been doing it long enough that I finally feel comfortable enough to throw some knowledge out there and discuss what I've learned over the years. For some some context I've been fishing for close to 25 years and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. So for now I'll keep it brief and quickly go over what baits I commonly throw.

Just a disclaimer, I'm not affiliated or associated with any of the brands I mention. Just a fishing fanatic who loves to throw these baits.

You can never go wrong with a stick bait. For me, I resort to the Yum Dinger in either watermelon red flake or black blue flake depending on water clarity. Texas or Ned rig it up and you'll be sure to get a bite sooner than later. This bait will catch fish anytime of the year, in any weather and at anytime of the day. A must have for every angler in my opinion.

Up next we have a soft plastic swim bait which can be rigged with or without a weight. The Saucy Swimmer by Googan is what I wind up throwing for a few casts every time I go out in hopes of hooking some suspended fish. More often then not I'm lucky hooking one near a drop off or right along a weed line. Not a go to for me but definitely something I always have ready.

This one right here, this shit right here. This is my absolute favorite lure to throw. You can get away with any brand for a topwater lure but for me. I go with the Googan Blooper. Walk this slowly along the weeds or up in the shallows and just watch them blow up on it. At dusk or dawn bass will devour this if they see it. For colors, I mix it up depending on the time of the day but I usually rotate between a Bluegill color pattern or a solid white or black.

This one is a close contendor with the Yum Dinger when it comes to soft plastics. The Googan Bandito Bug is a tried and true bait when it comes to hooking lunkers. If you can sync up throwing this when crayfish are molting you will hook em. Slow roll this with a weight along the bottom or throw it weightless and let it flutter in the water, they'll gobble it up. Same logic from the Dinger here, Green Pumpkin or Black Blue Flake are my go to colors.
